How to get five pieces of content out of a single video?

social media video sydney

When it comes to video a lot of my clients think that’s all it is. A video. But it can be so much more than that and it’s so easy to do. In this blog, I’ll share some simple tips on what you can do to get five pieces of content out of your one video. This will lead to greater reach, more engagement and most importantly, it will lead to more sales for your business.

1. Video

Ok, a bit of an obvious one but we needed to start somewhere and this is what you will be starting with anyway. Video is the king of content and is stronger than ever will only be getting bigger and better. If you aren’t already shooting video then you should be, seriously. Your competitors are already getting ahead of you. Being consistent with your video content is so important. You won’t get much engagement or views on your first 10-20 videos. That’s just the nature of the beast. But that does not mean they are a waste. Far from it. People are getting to know, like and trust you and that takes time to build. Growing your audience is like climbing a mountain. Slow and steady will get you to the top. In this post Covid world we find ourselves in more and more businesses are turning to video to reach their customers. So let’s say you have a video shot and ready to go. Now what?

2. Blog

A blog? I thought this was a video I hear you cry! Well, hear me out. All of the videos that I produce for my clients I get transcribed. A transcript is all the spoken words converted into a readable text format. There are a couple of very important reasons for this transcript. It adds subtitles to your video. Subtitles help your viewers that may be deaf or hard of hearing. To exclude all those possible eyeballs would not be a smart move. Your business needs to be inclusive and cater to everyone. Subtitles also boost engagement. Psychologically we watch videos for longer that have subtitles. Your eyes are drawn to the text even though you may be able to hear the video perfectly fine. If your viewers are on public transport or at work they are able to follow along with what you are saying without having to use headphones. It also helps with stopping the scroll. If a potential client is scrolling through content on their phone then your video popping up with exactly what your content is will help to grab their attention and listen to what you have to say. So what does this have to do with a blog? What you do is use the transcript as a skeleton starting point for your blog. We speak a lot faster than we type so the fastest way to write out a blog is to actually speak it. By having this text skeleton as a starting point you can then flesh out the content into a substantial blog full of all the keywords that will attract potential customers to you!

3. Podcast

Starting a podcast has never been easier. You can now broadcast your business to a global audience at the touch of a button. I offer .mp3 or WAV files to my clients taken from their video content. They can then easily upload these files to a podcast host and voila. They are now officially a podcaster. This means more reach and boosts their authority as an expert in their field. Think about the buyer’s journey that your potential clients are on. They have a problem. They are searching for a way to alleviate that problem. They have found some solutions (that your content will have helped them with)! They are looking to buy. They see you as the expert thanks to all your content and authority on the subject. Imagine if you seriously injured your knee. Would you want a knee specialist that had already given you some sound advice on easing the pain or a random GP you know nothing about to help you with it?

4. Images

A video shoot doesn’t just have to be a video shoot. Ask your videographer to take some behind the scenes shots of you in action. People love to see these on social media. If you’re feeling shy, and you shouldn’t be as you’re talking on camera then takes some BTS of the gear being used. Content is king and the more you can put out there the better. Just be sure not to cannibalise your content. Only post once per day or you risk pushing out your first post of the day. Sharing behind the scenes can help to build anticipation towards the actual video. People will then be more inclined to watch the final thing as they have already had a taste of what it is about. Here comes a blatant plug but I am also a photographer in Sydney so I offer headshots to my clients also. We are already there set up with lighting and they may have been to have their hair done etc for the video so why not do both?!

5. A second video

A second video from shooting a video? This is along the lines of the images above. This time you can tell your viewers what you are up to. Where are you in the world and what is this exciting content you are producing? Can you give it away or do you want to tease them? Viewers love a teaser. So much so that Hollywood releases a teaser trailer before they release the trailer so its a teaser of a teaser! You could set up a timelapse video on your phone of you in action recording your content. Give your viewers a tour of the set. Show them a sunrise at the beach you may be recording at. There are so many possibilities and it’s great to have a mixture of personal and professional content. The personal can really show off your personality and the professional proves that you know your stuff.

So that’s it for this blog. I hope that has helped you to get more out of a single video. It will give you a higher return on investment and the amount of content will raise your engagement levels and push you way ahead of the competition.
