2020, a year that will forever be engrained in our memories. For a lot of businesses, it has been a year of change. From lockdown working from home, zoom meetings, live streaming to having to let staff go. But we are here now at the end of the year and there seems to be a consensus that when the new year kicks in, everything will be ok again. Well, that’s not the case. Yes, things here in Sydney are easing week by week but normality as we know it is a way off. December is a time when normally businesses start to wind down but for me it’s a time to ramp up. Why? because my competition is winding down. Social media is a cluttered world so this is the perfect time to pull in new clients. Businesses will be looking to engage with new partners in the new year so by getting on their radar now you are increasing your chances of being there first port of call.
I know it might seem difficult because as a business owner you probably want to wind down yourself, especially after this year. But just think about it. You may have tried to post some video content already and had mediocre results. That’s down to your content not being seen enough. Did you pay to boost your post? Was your title attention-grabbing enough? If you didn’t pay then you probably got lost in the noise. Well, at this time of year there is less noise out there. This is your time to shine. Set one day aside and bulk shoot all your content. You then have a solid archive of content to drip feed out over December and into the New year.
In January your competition will start to plan their marketing campaign but you will already have yours locked and loaded. It takes 60-90 days for marketing to take effect so realistically if you start in January you won’t see results until late March. Plus, those results will be less because you will have more noise to fight through as all your competition launches at the same time!
If you think you don’t have enough time to plan and shoot your content then that’s just because you don’t understand the process. Here are a few suggestions of content ideas that you can come up with today.
FAQs
What do you get asked by your clients the most? The time taken to reply to email questions or phone calls could be all wrapped up in a Youtube series. Add these to Linkedin, Instagram Stories and Reels, Tiktok, wherever your target market hangs out. It’s the most obvious way to connect and engage with your audience because you are being laser focussed on your audience’s problems.
Give Value
Similar to the above, giving value is all about providing your knowledge and expecting nothing in return. Hints and tips that will help people to solve small problems. Keep them short and punchy. Viewers want quick tips. You could shoot at least 30 of these in a single day. By giving your audience something for free they psychologically want to give you something back in return.
Repurpose old material
Already have video in your archive? Just because it’s in the past doesn’t mean it has to be obsolete. A good editor can create new unique stories out of your old content to create something new and fresh. When we work with our clients we talk about shooting evergreen content. Content that can be reused over and over. It makes your ROI quadruple and ensures you are constantly being seen by your customers.
Podcasting
I know the thought of a podcast can be scary but it is really easy to get started. It’s the ideal way to grow your authority and show that you are an expert in your industry. It’s a great way to make new connections by inviting guests onto your show. They share the podcast on their channels and your network grows too. The great thing about inviting guests on is that they do most of the work. yes you guide them through by hosting the show but they do most of the talking. It’s also really fun to do. At Exposed Wolf, we can guide you through the entire process. From recording to distribution we will be with you every step of the way.
So that’s just a few quick ideas that you can implement today to really get a headstart and grow your business in 2021. Check out the rest of our blog for more ideas on marketing campaigns and video and photography ideas.
